In the summer of 2001, Chicago artists displayed their creative talents in a public art exhibition on the streets of Chicago. Suite Home Chicago featured life-sized fiberglass forms of a suite of furniture--chair, sofa, ottoman and television--each decorated by a local artist and sponsored by a business, organization or individuals. This unique exhibit united local Chicago communities as they combined ideas and efforts to make such a vision into an exciting reality. The extraordinary display encouraged exhausted shoppers to sit and smile for the camera. Why Furniture? Besides providing fun resting spots around the city, the furniture concept ties in to Chicago's history as a center of furniture design and manufacturing.
